Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. ginseng, a new forma specialis causing Fusarium root rot of Panax ginseng
نویسندگان
چکیده
Panax ginseng is a valuable medicinal plant which affected by many diseases during its long cultivation period. Ginseng root rot, caused Fusarium oxysporum, has become severe in China. This soilborne pathogen comprises formae speciales based on host specificity. Ten representative isolates from diseased rot showed pathogenicity ginseng. To identify the forma specialis of F. oxysporum strains, range tests three were carried out nine species. All symptoms only ginseng, but slight or no visual other eight hosts, indicating that strains host-specific to Phylogenetic trees constructed sequences translation elongation factor 1-α (EF-1α) gene, two endopolygalacturonase genes (Pg1, Pg5) and exopolygalacturonase (Pgx1 Pgx4). The ten clustered into unique group clearly separated already described. Based phylogenetic analyses, derived have been identified as new specialis, designated f. sp. first report

Ginseng (the root of Panax ginseng
aceae) is frequently used in Asian countries as a traditional medicine. The major components of ginseng are ginsenosides. These ginsenosides have been reported to show various biological activities including antiinflammatory activity and antitumor effects. The pharmacological actions of these ginsenosides have been explained by the biotransformation of ginsenosides by human intestinal bacteria....

Antagonistic Bacillus species as a biological control of ginseng root rot caused by Fusarium cf. incarnatum
BACKGROUND This study aimed to develop a biocontrol system for ginseng root rot caused by Fusarium cf. incarnatum. METHODS In total, 392 bacteria isolated from ginseng roots and various soils were screened for their antifungal activity against the fungal pathogen, and a bacterial isolate (B2-5) was selected as a promising candidate for the biocontrol because of the strong antagonistic activit...

Balloon flower (Platycodon grandiflorum) is a kind of mountain herbs whose roots have restorative properties and the cultivating acreage of balloon flower has been steadily increasing in Korea. More frequent rain and high amount of rainfalls as a result of climate changes predisposed balloon flower to the outbreaks of root rot at high-density cultivation area in recent years. Root crowns were u...

Root and stem rot (RSR) disease caused by Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. radicis-vanillae (Forv) is the most damaging disease of vanilla (Vanilla planifolia and V. × tahitensis, Orchidaceae). Breeding programs aimed at developing resistant vanilla varieties are hampered by the scarcity of sources of resistance to RSR and insufficient knowledge about the histopathology of Forv. In this work we have (...
